The worrying part of Turkey’s wildfire was it had covered the drought-stricken areas. The apparent response we understand is either global warming or human interference. We came across a similar instance in our story on Amazon, Australian & Indonesian wildfires.
As per TRT News’s last report, Evacuation in numbers from Mugla Province had around 10,000 people. Provinces like Antalya, Mugla, and Denizli were affected by the wildfires.
The figures indicate 129 fires extinguished in over 30 provinces. According to the reports, these wildfires started on Wednesday the 28th July 2021.
Tourists evacuated from the Southwestern part of Turkey. We can see below that many parts of African countries also had tiny bits of fires visible through the satellite imagery from NASA.
Not only has wildfires been a cause of concern for Turkey, but Greece and Italy are also affected by their wildfires. The below tweet by TRT shows the chaos in Greece also due to wildfires.
Also, we came across footage of North Macedonia’s blazing wildfires via the Andolou agency’s tweet. The Italian island of Sicily fought its wildfires inside. The dry air during this season and the heatwave from Europe could be one reason. The hot African air combines and makes it even harder to continue the fire fighting efforts.
Impact these wildfires are going to put on the efforts
The issue here is not whether a country can battle the wildfires. The point here is that if many countries face substantial natural disasters, it can create a whole new problem. The resources for the countries to overcome their natural disasters could get a severe impact. It could be even more difficult when any country would otherwise want to help. They may not be able to do so due to suffering from their wildfires.
The above mentioned are just a few wildfires in the world in the last couple of days. Even the US is facing wildfires in certain parts of the country.
Observing the impact, it creates on the general public
In general, the public will have to evacuate and wait for the situation to be normal. Another wait will be if it is safe to rebuild in the same region. They have to go through a long wait. The governments provide them with a relief package to help them get back to their property loss.
Repercussions of these wildfires are not less than dramatic
Points we must consider are as follows-
- Co2 emissions
- Air pollution
- Pressure on disaster management services
- Limits of Emergency services
Based on the size of the disaster and its impact, the countries will suffer from their economy. The treasury of a small country could get a major hit compared to the big and developed countries.
Although this is not a financial analysis, the allocation of financial help could be an issue expected. Countries in the coming months will have to brace the rise in the water level.
It will be due to the heat trapped in the atmosphere and the melting of the ice sheets in the polar regions. It is not necessarily due to the sea levels rise alone; It may be a combination of Flash floods due to cloudbursts. Although we have considered this a domino effect that has hit the dices closer to it, the impact is yet to hit the row.
